Quick Tips and Easy Remedies to Get Soft, Supple Feet

If you’re frustrated by scaly, dry skin on your heels and long for baby-soft feet, then it’s time to give your tootsies a makeover.  With a few home remedies and tricks, you can transform your alligator skin into something more much more desirable.

1. Try massaging olive oil into the dry spots, and then wear socks overnight.  The moisture will be trapped, and more will be soaked into your pores.  After several weeks of this, your feet should be soft and smooth.

2. If you don’t have olive oil on hand, try Vitamin E capsules instead.  This fatty oil is ideal for sealing moisture into the cracks of your feet.

3. Good old-fashioned Vaseline works wonders on damaged skin.  You’ll want to wear socks with this treatment, because petroleum jelly can get rather messy and will not work as effectively.  Apply overnight and sleep in socks for best results.

4. If you don’t care for oils, or you’ve tried them all, you may want to use a little elbow grease.  A pumice stone can work magic on feet by sloughing off dead skin cells, which you’ll need to use for a full minute each time you shower.  Pumice is available at most drugstores for under a dollar.

5. If all else fails, there are several products available at drugstores, including Heel-Tastic or Ped Egg.  If you aren’t fond of touching your feet, Heel-Tastic comes in stick form, so you will find it much easier to apply.

Scaly feet are commonplace in the winter months, and some people are simply genetically predisposed to dry, chapped or cracked heels.  If you can’t fix the condition yourself after using the above tips every day for one month, you may have to pay a visit to a podiatrist or your family physician.  You could have a fungal condition which is causing your cracked heels.
