Lymphoma, a cancer of the lymph nodes and lymphatic system, is one of the most common types of cancer in the country. It is common in children and young adults too. Over time, lymphoma, if not treated, will impair your immune system. Fortunately, this condition can be treated; thanks to the intense research by the scientific community, which has had many breakthrough findings.

Lymphoma weakens the immune system and causes fatigue and weight loss. Hence, it is necessary to focus on a healthy diet and include foods which reduce the inflammation caused to the lymph nodes. Consume foods which are anti-inflammatory and rich in antioxidants. There are various simple and easily available food items which can be added to your diet to reduce inflammation and acidity. Most spices and herbs are a rich source of antioxidants and are anti-inflammatory too.

Some of the most potent super spices and herbs are:

Cinnamon
This spice is super rich in antioxidants. It is the second most popular spice in the country too. It has powerful anti-inflammatory properties, which makes it a must-have food to reduce the incidence of lymphoma and treat the symptoms and side effects of the disease. Cinnamon is obtained from the inner bark of the tree Cinnamomum.

You can add cinnamon to your salads, baked dishes, and fruits. Additionally, cinnamon tea can be consumed for added benefits. One can also consume supplements in natural food stores.

Turmeric
One can consume turmeric latte, turmeric ginger tea, or turmeric lemon tea if they please. Turmeric is a new fad in anti-cancer treatments. It contains a compound called curcumin, which prevents cancer from spreading. It is a powerful antioxidant and helps to reduce inflammation. This spice has been consumed since ancient times as a digestive aid. Curcumin is believed to starve cancer cells to death.

Add turmeric to roasted vegetables and greens, use it in soups and curries, and blend it into your smoothies and teas.

Ginger
Ginger root is a powerful anti-inflammatory food. It helps fight cancer and is consumed to fight nausea and indigestion. You can consume ginger to battle these side effects. Add grated ginger to marinades, sauces, and salad dips. Combine ginger as an ingredient to smoothies or make tea with it. However, avoid adding sugar or milk to it as it reduces the anti-inflammatory power of ginger.

Black pepper
Black pepper is a flavourful spice which can spice up a host of dishes. You can add it to salads, soups, eggs, and curries. Black pepper contains piperine, which is a naturally occurring chemical compound with antioxidants. It can inhibit the growth of cancer cells as it builds the body’s immune system.

Garlic
Garlic contains substances that are powerful in preventing cancer and fighting cancer cells, thereby slowing down the growth of the tumor. Many avoid the use of garlic because of its pungent taste and odor. However, using just a tiny amount (one to two cloves) can provide great benefits to the body. Try using finely chopped or grated garlic on your vegetables, soups, or bakes.  Garlic supplements are available too, although raw garlic works better.
