Tips to Help You Get Better When You Have a Cold

When you get a cold, finding relief and getting well quickly become your primary concerns.  Today, we will look at three great tips to help you recover from your cold as quickly as possible.  With these tips, you can be back on your feet in no time.

Take zinc
Science has recently shown an credible link between zinc intake and cold duration, and there have been many products introduced to the market based on this research.  From lozenges to nasal sprays there are many ways to get more zinc into your system, and if you are looking to beat your cold, then zinc is certainly the right option.

Get some extra sleep
It might sound like the same old thing you’ve always heard, but new evidence shows that even the tiniest sleep disturbances or sleep deprivation make you more susceptible to colds and less likely to recover quickly.  A loss of even ten minutes of your average sleep time makes you four times more likely to get sick, so consider turning off the phone and television so that you can rest properly.  If you plan on heading out to a late night party, make sure you get to bed early the next couple of nights to make up for this ‘sleep debt.’

Sanitize your life
Studies show that during cold and flu season, germs are everywhere.  A single sneeze can deposit germs many feet away, and you never know what someone who is sick has touched.  Carrying hand sanitizer and using it whenever you come into contact with other people or items can help. Just be sure you use it before touching your eyes or face.  Frequent hand washing is probably the single most effective thing you can do to prevent coming down with a cold this season.

Staving off the common cold is hard, but with the right tips, you’ll be feeling like yourself in no time.
