What is the P90X Workout and is it Effective in Building Fitness?

If you are paying attention to the world of exercise, there is a strong likelihood that you have heard the term ‘P90X.’  This is the term given to a regimen of intense workouts also known as Power 90 Extreme.  Created by Mason Bendewald, this regimen is designed to improve physical fitness in a period of only 90 days.  Including both diet and exercise portions, the regimen relies on something known as muscle confusion.

As any long term exercise or gym enthusiast can attest, when your body gets used to a workout or routine, it will develop a tolerance to the exercises and you will hit a plateau where they no longer offer the same benefits to the cardiovascular system or to muscle growth.  P90X contains a very wide range of exercises that are performed, so that one day you might be doing yoga or plyometrics, and another day you might be doing cardio.  The wide variety creates muscle confusion and keeps you from hitting that exercise plateau.

P90X is certainly an extremely varied and intense exercise program.  There are numerous exercises and exercise types.  Originally created to add a more rigorous workout to people already well versed in intensive exercise, it is now popular even with those looking for a form of fitness boot camp
