Would You Read a Book on an E Book Reader? E Books Gain Popularity

The e-book and e-reader are quickly taking over the publishing world, and they are leaving many wondering if real paper books are about to go the way of vinyl records.  E-books have many positive aspects to them, as do the e-readers, and you can probably see why most people would drop the old-fashioned paperback novel in favor of e-books.

For example, e-readers can hold thousands of titles at once, just as your iPod can hold thousands of songs at once.  If you travel a great deal, then you already know just how valuable this can be.  When you can carry only one device, rather than ten different books, the choice seems clear.

There are some drawbacks to the e-books and e-readers revolution, however.  While it is pretty apparent that we are all headed in that direction, there are a few things that we should all consider.  The sharing capabilities with e-books and e-readers are next to none.  This means that libraries would be extinct and you could never again borrow or loan your books out.  E-books and e-readers threaten to remove that ability to share, but it could also harm the author’s bottom line, too.  How many new authors have discovered through your library or borrowing a book from a friend, or picking up an old paperback for fifty cents at a thrift store or doctor’s waiting room?

E-books and e-readers are at the very height of new technology; of that there is no doubt.  The reading screens are top of the line, and capacity is second to none, and yet there are still too many things missing.  E-books and e-readers are the way of the future, which may arrive sooner than we think.
