How to Make Mushroom and Broccoli Vegetarian Pizza

When you are in the mood for pizza, the only thing that is going to satisfy that craving is a nice cheesy slice.  If you are a vegetarian, this meatless pizza, with mushroom and broccoli toppings, is delicious and healthier than many alternatives.  Best of all, it’s easy to make and half the price of a pizza delivery!

To start, you will need:

Two cups of mushrooms

Three cups of broccoli florets

Two tablespoons of non-hydrogenated margarine (butter is fine)

One cup of low fat milk

One tablespoon of all purpose flour

One-fourth teaspoon of salt

two cloves of minced garlic

A half cup of shredded mozzarella

One-fourth cup of grated Parmesan

Pre-made pizza dough

Pre-made dough is certainly easier when you are making this vegetarian pizza.  Choose whole-wheat for a healthier option.

Preheat your oven to 425 degrees and place a baking sheet in the center rack.  In a skillet, melt one and a half tablespoons of the margarine, and add mushrooms until they start to brown slightly. Next, add one-third cup of water and the broccoli.  Cover the skillet and steam the broccoli for three to five minutes.

Add the rest of the margarine and cook until it is a nice gold color.  Stir constantly for the best results.  Now, add the salt, milk, and garlic.  Remove from the heat and stir in all but a handful of the two different types of cheese until melted.

Remove your pizza dough from the packet and kneed it into shape so you can add the toppings to the vegetarian pizza.  Place the shaped dough onto the baking sheet and cover it with the vegetarian mixture you’ve cooked.

Now, you can sprinkle the rest of the cheese onto the top of the vegetarian pizza and cook in the oven until the edges are golden brown.  Serves 2-4.
