Moroccan Oil the Latest Hair Treatment Wonder

If you are interested in having the healthiest hair possible, then Moroccan oil might be a hair treatment option that catches your interest.  So what is this treatment and how does it work?  Is Moroccan oil really worth your time and energy?

First, the product often cited as being “Moroccan oil” is actually argan oil.  The argan is a tree that grows almost only in Morocco.  The seeds from this tree are harvested and processed by hand.  The seeds are mixed with water, and then ground into a paste, from which the oil is then squeezed.

Moroccan oil offers some significant health benefits for hair, and is rich in emollients.  This makes it a very good option for those who need to tame frizzy, out of control hair.  It also offers benefits for skin, and can provide you with a healthier scalp.

However, before you purchase Moroccan oil, you should understand that it can cause pimples if used on facial skin, so if you are prone to blemishes, you might want to think twice about this product on your face.

For those interested, Moroccan oil actually contains a very high concentration of vitamin E, as well as carotenes and fatty acids.  The pure oil is used for everything from cooking to dipping bread (yes, it’s edible).  However, you need to make sure that you have pure argan oil before you decide to use it in your cooking – many types of Moroccan oil contain silicone products and are designed only for use in the hair.  Always check the label before using Moroccan oil! It can be purchased from some health food stores and occasionally from your local hairdresser.
