Why Antoine’s Restaurant in New Orleans is a Must See Landmark Eatery

Are you planning a vacation to the Big Easy any time soon?  If so, then you will certainly want to know some of the must-see attractions in New Orleans.

While there are plenty of sightseeing options out there, one of the best places to visit is Antoine’s Restaurant.  This eatery has been a hallmark of the city for a very long time, and offers an extremely enjoyable experience.

Antoine’s was actually founded back in 1840, and has been the site of quite a few culinary inventions that are definite New Orleans favorites.  For instance, Oysters Rockefeller was invented here, as was Eggs Sardou and Pigeonneaux Paradis.

Another notable thing about Antoine’s is the 25,000 bottle wine storage on the property.  Antoine’s Restaurant also offers 14 different dining rooms, each with its own theme and memorabilia.

The cuisine here is distinctly French cusine and Creole food.  If you will be dining at Antoine’s, then you must try a Café Brulot, a beverage made with coffee, orange liqueur, sugar, cloves, lemon peels and a cinnamon stick.

If you will be heading to New Orleans, you will find Antoine’s located at 713 Rue St. Louis in the heart of the French Quarter.  Notably, this area escaped most of the damage wrought by hurricane Katrina, and remains in very good condition.

If possible, try to be in the restaurant at closing, as guests are often given a tour of Antoine’s during this time, at no charge.
