Treating Athlete’s Foot with Natural Remedies and Healthy Diet

Athlete’s foot, that itching and burning fungus (eek!) that forms between the toes, can be a daily aggravation that many people may face. While the ailment is most common among athletes, anyone can suffer from it. Athlete’s foot forms because of a combination of a chemical imbalance in the body and the right conditions provided for the fungus to grow. The good news is that natural remedies combined with a little bit of common sense can help stop it.

Often, athlete’s foot forms when people wear wet or sweaty socks, which allows for a warm moist environment around the toes for the fungus to grow in. Too often, people turn to harsh chemicals as a way to treat it. However, natural remedies can be just as effective.

One time-tested remedy is tea tree oil. You can get this in most Health Food shops, and it has been proven very effective over the years as it is an antiseptic, and therefore can help kill the various nasties that cause Athlete’s Foot.

The great thing about natural remedies is that these do not have any dangerous side effects. If you suffer from chronic athlete’s foot and you are interested in choosing natural remedies to treat it, the first place you need to start is your diet. Since the ailment is actually a form of yeast, you will need to cut down on yeast heavy foods, like bread, that will feed the fungus through your pores. For instance, beer and other alcoholic beverages contain high amounts of yeast and should be avoided. Knowing what foods to avoid is the first step. In addition, an overall healthy diet is important as well since it will help to keep the chemicals within your body properly in balance.
