Making Kung Pao Chicken at Home is Easy

If you’re tired of the usual spaghetti and meatballs, it’s time for something exotic and unique.  Kung pao chicken is a perfect choice for some tasty Asian cuisine at home.  If you’re intimidated by Chinese food, you can breath a sigh of relief and know that this dish is simple and easy to prepare.

You will need:

Three boneless, skinless chicken breasts.  You will also need two small zucchinis, a cup of salted peanuts, a teaspoon of sugar, one and a half teaspoons of cornstarch, a pinch of black pepper, a tablespoon of oil, two minced garlic cloves and three tablespoons of hoisin sauce.  You’ll also need some celery stalks and white button mushrooms.

Steps:

To make kung pao chicken, first cut your chicken up into half-inch cubes.  In a bowl, add your chicken, sugar, starch and pepper together.  Mix this together.  Now, cut your zucchinis and your celery in half lengthwise and then cut them both into half-inch cubes.

You’ll need to quarter your mushrooms for the kung pao chicken.

Add the oil, garlic and your kung pao chicken mixture to a large frying pan.  Stir everything together and cover it.  Cook this on medium until the chicken is no longer pink.  You will need to stir it occasionally.

When the chicken is done, add the rest of your ingredients to the frying pan and cook for another five minutes.  Add the peanuts last.

Serve your kung pao chicken over rice, or you can use chow mein noodles if you prefer.  Either way, this is a delicious, simple meal to make at home.
