How to Make a Tasty and Crunchy Cobb Salad

When it comes to salad, many people believe that it’s a boring food and that they have few choices when it comes to what they are going to eat.  This is untrue.  A great dinner choice is to make a Cobb salad, which is a hearty and filling meal.

Bob Cobb, owner of The Brown Derby Restaurant in Hollywood, originally created it in 1937 for his own meal.  He made it from leftovers, but it was good enough that he started to offer it on the menu.  These days you can even buy it pre-made at the supermarket!

You will need:

4 ounces of grilled chicken, 4 ounces of cooked bacon, 2 ounces of Gorgonzola cheese or blue cheese (your choice), ½ of a peeled and sliced avocado, 2 hard-boiled eggs peeled and sliced, 1 tomato sliced and lettuce.  If you are making the salad for more than one person, you can double or triple the ingredients.

Steps:

Chop the bacon, slice the chicken, and place them onto your chopped lettuce and tomatoes.  Toss lightly.  Arrange the avocado and cheese on the salad for a decorative look.

When it comes to the dressing, you can add whichever one you prefer.  Blue cheese dressing and ranch dressing are very good on the salad, but you need to make sure that the dressing you use goes well with the cheese you use.

A Cobb salad is easy to make and it tastes great.  The salad offers protein with the chicken and bacon, as well as tasty vegetables and cheese, which makes it a perfect meal for lunch or dinner.
