How to Make Easter Egg Cookies

Making cookies for Easter has been dumbed down to premade cookie dough with dyed designs already added into the treats.  How dull!  Explore your creativity with home-made design and color to make elegant Easter egg cookies for your family and friends to munch on this holiday.

Ingredients:

Pillsbury sugar cookie dough

Flour

Easter egg cookie cutters

Vanilla frosting

Baker’s brush

Bottle of Karo syrup

Pink & Blue Toile Wafer Paper

Edible Cake Mate markers

Steps:

First, you need to cut your wafer paper into shape – just place your egg cookie cutter on the paper and trace the shape, then cut it out with sharp scissors.

For your cookies, use your egg cutters to cut shapes in the cookies and then bake according to the directions.  You need to preheat your oven to 350 degrees and cook the cookie dough for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the cookies are golden brown.

When your cookies are done cooking, take them out and let them cool completely.  When your cookies have completely cooled, frost them lightly.  Now, take one egg wafer and brush a light amount of Karo syrup on the blank side.  Gently press this onto the frosting on a cookie.

Repeat this process for the remaining Easter egg cookies.  Make sure you press the edges of the design down with a spatula to keep them from peeling up.  Try Easter egg decorations, chicks, Easter bunnies, or flowers and use a variety of colors with icing pens, which can be purchased at any local supermarket or bakery.

Try making a few dozen for friends and neighbors, placing them cozily in Easter baskets and delivering them to each door.  The treat will keep you family full and happy, and cheer up those living on your block.
