How to Make Homemade Plum Jam

Do you love plum jam and want to learn how to make it yourself, rather than buying it from the grocery store?  Here is a great recipe for plum jam that is easy to follow and delicious.

You will need:

6 cups of chopped plums

3 cups of sugar

1 package of pectin

1 tablespoon of butter

5 X two cup mason jars

1 large pot

A large spoon

A soup ladle

Steps:

Set the oven to 200 degrees and put in your mason jars.

Wash and chop your plums.  Put your fruit into the pot and set the heat on your stove to medium high.  Add in your sugar and stir both slowly and consistently.  Stir constantly until the mixture starts to boil.

When you reach a rolling boil, add in the pectin and margarine and stir continuously for one more minute, then turn off the heat.

Using oven gloves, carefully pull your jars out of the oven one by one, ladling the plum jam liquid into them.  This should fill all five jars, though it might be slightly less.  As soon as the jars are filled, use the lids and rings to seal them and allow them to sit, undisturbed, on your countertop for at least twenty-four hours.

When the plum jam has set, you can put it into the refrigerator or cabinet or even give it to your friends.  It is so easy to make, and is absolutely delicious!
