First, gather the ingredients needed for Thanksgiving pumpkin soup.  You will need a three and one-third pound pumpkin, peeled and cubed; a sliced onion; two garlic cloves, peeled; one and three-quarters ounces of butter; two and one-eighth pints of chicken stock; two and one-eighth pints of water; a tablespoon of cream; nutmeg, cinnamon; a teaspoon of sugar, two slices of cubed bread and two tablespoons of maple syrup.

First, cook the onions and garlic in butter in a pot on medium-high heat.  Add the pumpkin and the chicken stock and allow this to simmer for about twenty minutes.  Preheat your oven for about three hundred and fifty degrees.  Toast your bread cubes and drizzle with olive oil and add your spices.  Add the maple syrup to your soup, stir it and remove it from the heat.

Put your soup into a blender a portion at a time.  Add your cream to your Thanksgiving soup, blend and pour into another pan.  Repeat until all of the soup is blended.  Serve your Thanksgiving soup warm and garnished with croûtons.

This simple Thanksgiving dish will give you great flavor, and can even be made a day ahead of time to help save effort on Thanksgiving Day.
