Inexpensive Decorating Tips to Prepare For a Thanksgiving Party

If you’re getting ready for a big Thanksgiving party, there are some easy ways to decorate your home and make it festive for the big day without spending a fortune. Since the Thanksgiving season is all about the warm colors of fall, most decorating involves natural elements and fall’s warm hues. This will create the starting point for your decorations.

The first thing to work on is the table. From working out how many place settings you’ll need to buying to the perfect centerpiece, the Thanksgiving table should be the center of your party. For an inexpensive centerpiece, you could use a basket of gourds mixed with fall fruits and flowers. A great decorating tip for place settings might be a small gourd with each guests’ name written on it. It’s such an easy way to set up your table without spending much money. You should also consider a tablecloth or table runner and place mats for your table in autumn colors. With colorful decor on the table, you can use a neutral color for the table linens and save even more money.

The lighting is also an important part of decorating for your Thanksgiving party. Like fall’s colors, lighting should be warm and cozy. It’s a good idea to dim the dining room lights or use candles as the primary lighting source. You can also use soft music or atmospheric tracks to help set the mood.

You should consider the guest list carefully and decide what music might be most appropriate for them. Celtic music is always fun (though not to everybody’s taste), and Christmas-themed music might be great at the end of the night. You can also purchase DVDs which have nature sounds on them, or videos of moving outdoor scenery such as waterfalls, forests or even a fireplace. A crackling log fire soundtrack and video will make your party feel surprisingly warm, and will cast the same cracking red and orange light that a real fireplace would – without the bother of owning a real fire.

Decorating your home for a Thanksgiving party can be relatively quick and inexpensive. By incorporating natural elements that are symbolic of the season, you can save money and make your home look festive. Once you’re done decorating, it’s time to give thanks and enjoy this special day.
