How to Install Christmas Lights Without Getting in a Tangle

Hanging Christmas lights can be quite a chore.  Before you start, it helps if you have a plan. Know where you want to place your Christmas lights and get out the measuring tape so you know how many lights you are going to need.

Before you start stringing Christmas lights, it’s important that you test them. Plug them in and check each bulb to make sure it lights properly. If you find that some of the lights aren’t working, get a replacement. It’s always a good idea to have several replacement bulbs on hand.

Many people use nails and staples to attach their Christmas lights, but these can be ugly, and they can cause damage to the surface to which you attach them. Many people today are using electrical tape to attach the lights to their roof. Lighting clips are another option, and they let you attach the lights without damaging your roof.  No matter how you put up your lights, make sure that you have at least one other person helping you for safety.

If you want to make sure that installing those Christmas lights next year is easy and hassle free, make sure that you store the Christmas lights properly. Coil them carefully and then use zip ties to keep them from unraveling. Organization will make the process even easier when the holidays roll around next year!
