How to Set up a Haunted House for Halloween Fun

Making your own haunted house is ideal Halloween holiday fun the whole family can enjoy. Every member of the family can use their own talents to add to the overall creativeness of the haunted house. You can then all enjoy having your friends and relatives over to tour the haunted house as part of your holiday celebrations.

Mark holiday fun times and dates on your calendar to work together as a group on your haunted house. Individual family members can work independently, too, and share ideas and contributions during the family sessions. Working in shorter sessions and more frequently will allow everyone to think up new ideas over time, plus you’ll spend quality fun time together more often.

Start creating your holiday fun haunted house by deciding as a family on some basics, such as where you’ll set it up. You may choose to use one or two rooms of your home for the haunted house, or the basement or an outdoors building for your holiday fun area. Talk about what features or items you’d like to include, then figure out ways to make them happen!

Make sure creating the house is something everyone in the family enjoys. As part of the holiday fun, your family could create your own sound recording of scary noises and creepy music to play in the haunted house. You can create frightening stuffed “scarecrow” type holiday fun figures to place in your house. Set up scenes of horror with teens, or just decorate for playful holiday fun for younger kids.
