Great Homemade Cocktails for Your Winter Parties

Are you planning on hosting a party for your friends of family this winter?  If so, then you need to plan in advance which cocktails to serve.  While you can certainly make traditional cocktails, some seasonal options might just be the best thing for your winter get-together, and add a festive touch which will be sure to add extra fun to the evening.  Here are some of your option for great winter cocktails:

 

The Bourbon Furnace
This is a tasty cocktail option that will have your guests clamoring for more.  You’ll need six ounces of hot apple cider, three cloves, a stick of cinnamon and an ounce and a half of bourbon.  Pour the drinks together in a cup, stir well, and garnish with the cloves and cinnamon.

 

Christmas Punch
These cocktails will be the hit of the party.  You need four pints of water, a pound of sugar, the juice and rinds from three lemons, a bottle of rum, a bottle of ruby port and some grated nutmeg.  You’ll also need a grated apple and orange.  Boil the water, the sugar and the lemon rinds.  Cool and strain out the lemon.  Add the rum, port and juice, then pour into a punchbowl.  Float the fruit in the punch.  These cocktails will be enjoyed by all – just don’t let your grandmother drink this one if you don’t want to see her dancing to Lady Gaga by the end of the evening!

 

Eggnog
Eggnog is one of the most traditional cocktails to serve during the holidays, and also one of the most delicious.  To make this cocktail, you’ll need six eggs, separated, three quarters cup of light rum, three quarters cup of Jim Beam and two cups of heavy cream.  You will also need a quart of milk, a cup of sugar, and some powdered nutmeg. Whip the egg whites until stiff, and then whip your cream.  Place egg yolks in a bowl and then beat with the sugar until they have a creamy consistency.  Add your alcohol carefully and beat well. Next, add your milk and mix, add the cream and eggs, then mix.  Keep a foamy consistency to these cocktails and they’ll go down a treat.
