All about the Famous Lobster Restaurant located in Santa Monica, California

The Lobster restaurant in Santa Monica, CA has been around, in one form or another, since 1923.  Located at 1602 Ocean Drive in Santa Monica, the Lobster started out as the dream of a dishwasher.  The restaurant was originally named the “Seafood Shack.”  The original owner of the Seafood Shack, Mateo Castillo, worked his way up to the owner of the restaurant and the Lobster was established as one of the best places to go for seafood.

The Lobster had several different owners during the 20th Century, eventually closing for a bit during the mid-1980s.  The restaurant is open again today, however, and the Lobster is continuing its tradition of serving real seafood.  The building the Lobster is housed in is the original structure and, if you go around to the side of the building, you’ll see the inscription from the year the Lobster was established.

Today, The Lobster draws in guests with its expansive view of the bay and it’s Maine Lobster.  It was reopened in 1999, after the building had fallen into disrepair.  The Lobster is one of the best-known sites in the city and has an excellent reputation for the food they serve.  They stick to classic seafood dishes and many guests like the nostalgic surroundings.  The building is completely renovated and more people than ever can dine in the Lobster today.

The Lobster is a gourmet, upscale establishment, and reservations can be made online.
