How to Give Yourself a Pedicure

Just below a manicure in terms of popularity, you will find the pedicure.  These spa treatment is a great way to relax and to keep your toenails looking nice and healthy.  They also cost a bundle of money if you go to a professional nail parlor.  However, you can give yourself a professional quality pedicure right at home and save money, whilst still enjoying all of the benefits.

You Will Need:

Epsom salts

Pumice stone

Toenail clippers or small curved scissors

Nail file

Cuticle stick

Moisturizer

Nail polish

Clear topcoat polish

Steps:

First, remove all of your old nail polish.  Next, fill a large bowl (or the tub) with hot water and add some Epsom salts, or a commercial foot soak product.

To begin your home pedicure, you should soak your feet for about 15 minutes in the water, or alternatively, take a bath or hot shower beforehand.  Use a pumice stone to scrub off all the dead and cracked skin after your feet soak.

You now need to clip or your toenails straight across to prevent ingrown toenails.  Next, take a nail file and file your nails down to eliminate rough edges, then push back your cuticles with a cuticle tool.  If your cuticles tear when you push them back, use a moisturizer to make them more pliable.

Next in your pedicure, you need to massage your feet with lotion.  An exfoliating lotion will help remove dead and dry skin, while giving your feet the moisture that you need.

You can now separate your toes using a pedicure tool or cotton wadding, and apply a base coat of toenail polish to each nail.  Allow this to dry and then finish applying your polish.  Add a coat of clear polish once the other coat has dried, and your pedicure is ready to be shown off!

Give yourself a pat on the back, you just saved $20 plus gas money by doing your pedicure yourself!
