LA Sports Entertainment May Improve in 2011 With a New Football Team

Sports entertainment fans in L.A. have long languished the absence of a professional football team. Although there have been promising developments here and there, a series of persistent problems remains for one of the largest cities in the U.S. The costs of providing sports entertainment, coupled with unimpressive showings of support in the past, are largely to blame for this deficiency.

For example, when the Rams were in L.A., the Coliseum failed to sell out on a regular basis. This then provoked the Rams to seek a different city, with better support. Their last L.A. game was in 1994, leaving Los Angeles without a football team. Since then, other teams have attempted to become successful in L.A. (such as the Raiders), only to have the same outcome.

One of the primary concerns regarding L.A. sports entertainment is having enough ticket buyers and a venue that can accommodate them. L.A. is a city already known for horrible traffic problems, which has prevented sports venues from gaining easy approval from voters. Sports also cost the city money and, not wanting to pay higher taxes for it, this has pushed many L.A. voters against having a team. However, rumors in the sports entertainment world hold that 2011 may be the year when L.A. gets a team.
