How to Encourage Your Child to Eat a Healthy Breakfast

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but getting your kids to eat something healthy can be frustrating and aggravating.  However, there is a simpler way to get your kids to eat healthy foods for breakfast packed with good nutrition.  Let them choose the meal and you add the healthiness.

 

French Toast
Kids love French toast, though it’s not the healthiest breakfast food in the world.  You can make it more healthful by using only egg whites to batter the bread, and using whole grain bread.  In addition, consider using low sugar syrup for even better health.

 

Bacon and Eggs
Bacon and eggs is one of the more popular options for breakfast in the nation.  You can increase the nutrition of this meal by using soy bacon or turkey bacon rather than pork bacon in the meal.  You can also use Egg Beaters to reduce the impact of the eggs on your kids.

 

No Chocolate Milk
While giving your kids a good energy boost in the morning is part of the reason you need a healthy breakfast, giving them chocolate milk is not the best option.  Opt for regular whole milk, or at least make sure you’re using real chocolate milk and not “chocolate drink” at breakfast.  You should also consider serving real orange juice, as it’s packed with vitamins and minerals for a healthy start to the day.

 

There are numerous other ways that you can give your kids a healthy breakfast of their choice.  Whole wheat toast, whole grain pancakes and many other options can be substituted for regular fare.
