How to Help Your Kids Make Mom a Gift For Mother’s Day

Making Mother feel special is important every day, but even more so on Mother’s Day.  For kids, it can be a great opportunity to show her how much they care with a handmade craft.  The special touch of creating a truly unique gift will allow them to give a gift that will last a lifetime.

Mother’s Day craft ideas don’t have to be difficult; in fact, there are many simple ideas that create a special gift for mom.  Handprints are traditionally a great way to keep cherished memories as a child grows.  Using a piece of fabric, trace a child’s hand or use different colored paint to create a handprint on the fabric.  Handprints can be put on items mom uses around the house, such as aprons, potholders, or hand towels.  It’s also easy to frame a piece of fabric to create a wonderful keepsake craft.

Another easy craft mom is sure to love is a personalized flowerpot.  Buy a plain terra cotta pot, and let your child decorate it with acrylic paints, stick-on jewels, ribbons and bows. You can get a wonderful selection from your neighborhood craft store, or go for a walk with your child and see what natural decorations you can find, in the form of feathers, shells, small pretty stones and flowers (which you can press).

For a mother that loves to read, a handmade bookmark can be a special craft she’ll truly love.  Decorating a plain card bookmark with fun designs or sweet sentiments will really show you care.  Mother’s Day is a great opportunity to remind your mother how special she truly is, and to exercise a bit of your creativity!
