How to Make Chocolate Easter Eggs

Chocolate eggs are certainly a staple of Easter baskets and all festivities around the holiday.  If you’d like to add a personal touch to your chocolate eggs this Easter, try making your own.  With an easy-to-follow recipe, you can create an Easter egg in just about any color or style your imagination dreams up.

Ingredients

To get started with this fun project, visit local candy stores since you’ll need chocolate (dark, milk or white), food coloring if using white chocolate, and other ingredients, like nuts or sprinkles.  You can either opt to stick with one type of chocolate, or make several batches of eggs in different flavors.  Whatever chocolate you chose, melt it in the microwave or on the stove top.

Steps

Fill cleaned, rinsed squeeze-bottles with the melted chocolate and prepare the molds you will be using to create the eggs.  Fill the molds with chocolate, making sure to get out any air bubbles.  Your Easter eggs are almost done now!  Refrigerate the molds for a couple of hours.  Once the chocolate is hard, it’s ready to be removed from the refrigerator and wrapped or placed in an Easter basket.

If you decided to add any nuts to your chocolate, do so before you squeeze the chocolate into the mold.  Your Easter eggs can be any color you want (try pastels) and you can use festive wrapping foils to make them even more decorative.  Try putting them in gift baskets for friends and neighbors on the special day.

Creating homemade Easter eggs is a great way to create a truly unique Easter gift for anyone in the family and to use it as a bonding experience with your kids.  Buying store-bought eggs is easy, but making them yourself is a treasure.
