How to Make an Edible Easter Egg Basket

If you’re in search of a fun and unique project for Easter, there are many ideas to choose from that are creative and fun for the family.  When you want a new twist on a traditional gift basket, consider making an edible one.  Whether you want to put it together on your own, or make it a fun Easter project for the whole family, this is a great way to add something new to the holiday, as well as curb your sweet tooth.

Ingredients and Steps

To make your edible basket, you’ll first need to scour your favorite candy stores.  Look for waffle-style sundae bowls, red licorice, jelly beans, chocolate chips, coconut shredding, Easter chocolates and various Easter candies.  First, melt the chocolate chips in a small bowl in the microwave.  Place the waffle bowl on a paper plate to create the foundation of the basket.  Now, form your red licorice into a “U” shape and dip its ends in the melted chocolate.  Adhere the licorice to the waffle bowl as your basket handles.

The coconut shreds will mimic the grass in a traditional Easter basket.  Sprinkle the shreds generously in your basket and make it dense.  Now, place jellybeans on the coconut and then drizzle with melted chocolate.  Next, place the remaining candy and chocolates in your Easter basket.  The trick to making a fun edible basket is to put the candies they love most in it.

Treats

You can fill your basket with cookies and other treats they might like, as long as they are edible.  Include Peeps, Cadbury chocolate eggs and decorated cake pops.  To take it a step further, write the recipient’s name in icing on the basket to personalize it.

Now, you have a truly unique Easter basket anyone would love.  Have fun with this holiday project and include the whole family in the fun to make for a memorable project.
