How to Throw a Great Easter Egg Hunt

Are you interested in throwing an Easter egg hunt at your home this year?  These events can be great fun for the entire family, and are a good way to encourage all those far-flung family members and friends to get together.  Follow a few steps to ensure a successful hunt, with many happy participants.

Supplies

You’ll need some supplies here, like eggs, plastic eggs, cookies, treats and drinks.  Next, you need to send out invitations so that everyone knows that you’re having an Easter egg hunt at your home.  You can send out regular invitations, but making your own colorful Easter invitations with construction paper can be fun, too.  Cut out traditional Easter shapes, like eggs and bunnies, and send them out in cute Easter gift baskets.  If you’re a bit of a techie and short on time, opt for Evites via the Internet.

The Eggs

Next, you need to make sure that you have enough eggs for all the children that will be coming.  Ideally, you want a good mixture of candy eggs, plastic eggs and hard boiled eggs.  Easter prizes don’t need to be super expensive – plastic eggs with a few quarters in them can work well.  Visit local candy stores and pick out plenty of treats for prizes, as well.

Food

You also need to make sure that you have enough food for the entire gathering.  Decide if your Easter egg hunt will double as an Easter lunch, and buy your food with this in mind.  You might also request that all of the families attending the Easter celebration bring a dish, snack or beverage to lighten the cost to you.

Once everyone has arrived, have several people hide the eggs and then let the children go crazy.  After the Easter egg hunt, let everyone unwind with a meal and some good conversation.
