How to Keep Hair Extensions Tangle Free

Hair extensions can be quite a costly investment.  They are a great way to easily change the color or length of your hair, but once you have them, you want to do all you can to keep them looking great and lasting as long as you want.  Tangles and knots can be very problematic for people with extensions and usually involve a trip to the hairdresser to sort them out.

Comb Daily

One important tip to keep in mind is that you want to comb your extensions daily – but gently.  Avoid pulling or back-combing of any kind.  Natural extensions can be combed as often as your normal hair, and doing this on at least a daily basis can help keep your hair free of tangles.  Consider using your fingers to gently remove any knots to avoid excessive damage.

Keep Shampoo Off

Another great tip for preserving hair extensions and removing knots is to avoid washing the extensions themselves.  If you simply wash your scalp in the shower, you will still get enough shampoo and water to remove residue, without creating tangles and weakening the extensions.

Buy a Silk Pillowcase

Last, consider buying a silk pillowcase.  It may sound silly, but as you toss and turn at night, cotton and other materials can cause your hair to get rough and tangled.  Silk allows your hair to move more naturally and easily, and can go a long way in helping to keep it from getting tangled.

Keeping your hair extensions tangle-free can be a chore, but with these tips it is certainly much easier.  You now have a way to keep your extensions looking natural for much longer!
