How to Improve Your Bowling Game

If you really enjoy bowling, but you find that you’re just not that great at it, there are three easy things you can do to develop a better technique.

First and foremost, you should determine how many steps you need to take before releasing the ball.  Taking too many steps could put you over the line, but not taking enough steps could mean that your ball misses all of your pins.  Most bowlers take anywhere from three to six steps before they release their bowling ball.  Keep in mind that you should lead off with the foot that is on the same side as the arm you use to bowl.

One of the most important tips for bowling better is figuring out whether you want to roll in a straight line or if you want to take a curved approach.  Spinning the ball will make it curve around and it will curve into the pins instead of rolling straight into them.  When you spin the ball, you increase the likelihood that your ball will knock the pins into each other, causing more of them to fall down.

When focusing on the pin you want to hit, it’s best to aim for the pin to the left or right of it (depending on if you’re left or right-handed).  Understand that the ball will almost always curve a little to the left or right, so it’s important to give yourself room to still hit in the middle of the pins.

Overall, always maintain a positive attitude for a better game and to subconsciously allow your mind to do better and to score impressive numbers.
