If you have never really spent much time in a kitchen, the idea of cooking for yourself or your family can be daunting.  Cookbooks and beginner’s cooking classes can help, but many recipe books are meant for people who are already seasoned in the kitchen.

Here are some books that are great for the absolute beginner cook.  With these great guides, you will be cooking like a pro in no time.

One of the best books for any new cook is ‘The Joy of Cooking.’  This book has been around for more than 75 years and is still considered a bible among many chefs and cooks.  It is one of the best books for great recipes, but more than that, it also has information about measurements, substitutions, and everything else you need to know.

Another great beginner cookbook is ‘Help! My Apartment Has a Kitchen’ by Nancy Mills.  This is another of the most fantastic books for a beginner cook.  It is lighthearted and humorous, yet it also offers more than 100 great recipes that are very simple to prepare.

The third and final cookbook is yet another traditional guide, yet it is another incredibly popular favorite.  ‘The Betty Crocker Cookbook’, which is now in its 10th edition, has been in print for more than 60 years and is still one of the best choices.  This book offers over 1,000 recipes, ample photos and illustrations, and a great deal of practical advice.  Updated for the times, it has also been flagged for meals that take less than 20 minutes so that you can cook on the go.

With these three great books, finding something delicious for your next meal can be a breeze!
