How to Get Motivated Enough to Quit Smoking

Smoking is one of the leading causes of death in the United States, and everyone today knows that it is harmful to your health.  Quitting smoking isn’t easy though, and anyone who has tried and failed knows what an uphill battle it truly is.  You can find some quitting methods that can help you on your journey, though.

The first thing that you have to do is to really want to stop smoking.  Many people delude themselves into thinking that they want to quit, but they really don’t have the motivation or desire.  You have to have the proper mindset and know that you are really going to quit and make it this time.

Second, if you live in a house where other people smoke, try to get everyone to quit smoking at the same time.  Limit your exposure to people who are smokers.  If you are around people who are smoke, it will be difficult to quit and stay quit.

Many people have had success with the nicotine patches and gum that are on the market.  You may want to try these and cut back on them gradually until your craving for nicotine is gone.  Some people smoke when they feel nervous or upset.  You need to find another way of dealing with those feelings.  Chewing gum and mints are a good option here.

You can also try Chantex, which is available with a prescription from your doctor.  Chantex is a drug that both reduces your craving for nicotine and also blocks the pleasure you feel whenever you smoke and take in nicotine.  However, it can make you depressed or give you extraordinarily vivid dreams, so do your research and talk to your doctor before you take it.

Snacks are a good and harmless way to curb your nicotine craving.  When you are quitting smoking, make sure that you have plenty of snacks in the house.  Try to buy healthy snacks; otherwise, you can add some unwanted weight.

It is possible to quit smoking as long as you have the willpower and people who are supporting you along the way.
