How to Find Sand and Gravel for Home Projects

If you are getting ready to do a landscaping or remodeling project in your yard, you’ll most likely need a large amount of sand and gravel.  While you already know how easy it is to buy most of the gardening supplies you need (plants, trees, sod, seeds, lumber), there is a good chance that you are unaware of where to purchase gravel or the sand that you want for your driveway, walkway, or yard.

Though you probably won’t be able to find everything that you need at the local home improvement store, they might carry small bags that you can purchase.  If you are only working on a small project, this might be all that you need.  For the larger projects, you are likely going to have to look elsewhere.

You first want to look online and find construction companies that specialize in what you need.  Many contractors deliver to your home and place the gravel themselves, although this is a costlier option.  If you have a smaller budget, look on Craigslist.com for free gravel, although you’ll have to pick up the supply yourself.

If you don’t have any luck with companies in the area, head online and check out some of the companies around the nation.  Many of them are able to ship what you need right to you – this is especially helpful if you want to have certain types of gravel.  Although the cost may be higher, it’s great for a last resort.
