Creative Ways for Teens to Make Extra Money and Save for the Future

As a teen, it’s important to find ways to make money so you can save for the future, and be able to enjoy activities with friends.

A popular way to make money is by babysitting. You could also consider mowing lawns, shoveling snow, painting fences, washing cars, or working around the house as a way to earn extra money for yourself. You could even place an ad in the local newspaper, or put up flyers in your neighborhood letting people know that you’re looking for work.

Lemonade stands are a great way to earn extra money as well; plus you can do them right in your front yard.  It might even be a good idea to talk to your parents about having a yard sale to de-clutter the house.  You could organize the sale and keep a percentage of the earnings. Projects around the house might save them time, and help you earn extra money.

If you excel at a certain subject in school, it might be a good idea to talk to your school or parents about tutoring as a way to earn extra money.  You could spend a few hours after school tutoring students in your favorite subject.

With some creativity, you can find many ways to earn extra money as a teen.  Be sure to save part of your earnings as a way to make more money on the interest in your savings account. It is recommended that you save ten to twenty percent of your earnings.
