The Bestselling Novels of 2010

There are many different ways to determine the bestselling novels of 2010. The New York Times bestseller list has long been recognized as the go-to source for a list of bestselling novels and books.  The list for 2010 includes Stieg Larsson’s The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, and The Girl Who Played with Fire.  Kathy Reichs has placed on the bestselling novels list with Spider Bones, and James Patterson and Liza Marklund are represented with The Postcard Killers.

Other bestselling novels lists, such as Amazon.com, include books that have been on the market for several years.  Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight saga is still represented on the list, with the sequels Eclipse and Breaking Dawn.  These books are still bestselling novels because of their wide appeal to young adults and adults alike.  Their adaptation into motion pictures continues to introduce these books to a wider audience.

Other authors that are not strangers to the bestselling books list include Nicholas Sparks, with Dear John; John Grisham, with Ford County; David Baldacci, with True Blue; and Dan Brown, with The Lost Symbol.

There are new authors to the bestselling novels lists, too.  Books that are gaining national attention include The Help, by Kathryn Stockett; Little Bee, by Chris Cleave; and Demon from the Dark, by Kresley Cole.

Though these books may not all be listed on every bestselling novels list, there is no doubt that they are gaining national attention.  The wide range of subject matter shows that Americans often seek something new and different, while the familiar proves that we know exactly what we like when it comes to books.
