Doctors agree that one of the most important areas fish oil can help you out with is cancer prevention.  According to recent studies, the Omega-3 fatty acids found in fish oil can help prevent many types of cancer, from breast to colon and prostate cancer.

Another health benefit found by adding fish oil to your diet is better cardiovascular health.  Fish oil can help prevent high blood pressure, as well as secondary heart disease.  It can also help regulate your cholesterol, further preventing other cardiovascular problems.

In mental health, fish oil also seems to provide some significant benefits.  For instance, it can help alleviate depression.  In addition, fish oil seems to play an important role in preventing diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.

There are many important health benefits to be found in fish oil.  However, make sure that any fish oil supplement you take is derived from the fish’s body, and not the liver, as the liver can contain high levels of active vitamin A, which can be a toxin if you consume too much of it.

In addition, make sure that you consume purified fish oil to avoid problems with toxic pollutants in fish.  Check the label and look for organic fish oil at you local health food market.
