The Lowdown on Krill Oil, the Best Source of Natural Omega 3s

Many of us are aware that taking omega 3 vitamin supplements is essential to our overall health.  The market is chock-full of different kinds of omega 3 supplements, such as fish oil and flax seed oil, so how do you know which one to take?

Krill oil is a great choice for anyone.  Packed full of EPA and DHA, krill oil is absorbed more easily than the omega 3s you find in fish oil.  It also naturally contains vitamins A, E, D, canthaxanthin and astaxanthin (very potent antioxidants), making it a better rounded supplement to take.

Health Boosts Found in Natural Krill Oil

Krill oil can help in maintaining a healthy heart, improve your memory and learning, level your blood sugar levels, as well as help improve your skin.  Krill oil can also boost your immune system, providing you with overall health all year round.  Krill oil supports brain health and liver function, amongst many more.  Some studies show that krill oil can help maintain healthy cholesterol levels, and also relieve menstrual cramps in women, as well as ease premenstrual syndrome.

Where Does Krill Oil Come From?

Krill is usually caught in Antarctica and is one of the most sustainable food sources on the planet.  This is because, along with plankton, krill makes up the largest population of living organisms on the planet!  They also have very strict regulations governing their harvest.  So not only is krill oil a healthier and much better overall option then fish oil, but it is far better for the planet.

With krill oil, you don’t have to worry about a contaminated product since it is collected in the fresh waters of Antarctica.  No worries about mercury levels, PCBs, heavy metals or any other toxin.

Benefits of Krill Oil Over Fish Oil

Since krill oil is far more resistant to rancidity, this means that it will last longer, as much as two years in room temperature.  Krill oil also has no after taste like fish oil, which is better for those with more sensitive stomachs (and noses!).  After all, nobody wants to walk around with fish breath all day!

Krill oil also offers the advantage that has far better absorption than fish oil, which means you can take a much smaller dose and get even better benefits and results.  It is very important to also understand that there is a ratio between omega 6s and omega 3s in order to obtain optimal health, and most people don’t know this.  The ideal ratio should be 1:1, but today this ratio is 20:1, even 50:1!  So clearly people are consuming way too much omega 6s and not nearly enough omega 3s.

How to Start Taking Krill Oil

If you decide that krill oil is a great solution to boost the overall health of your family, I strongly suggest researching in depth the brand you choose.  This is the case with any other supplement you take, because you want to make sure you are giving your family and yourself the highest quality oil possible, and that there are many brands out there with inferior ingredients.

One way to look for high quality is to look and see where the omega 3s are coming from.  If they are coming in the form of triglycerides, then you know right away it’s an inferior product.  What you want to look for is a krill oil that contains the much important phospholipids and astaxanthin ingredients.

So, if you’re currently taking fish oil as a daily supplement or are not taking any omega 3s, please research krill oil and all of the many benefits this marine oil provides – it will make a huge difference in your health!
