How to Get Rid of Bed Bugs

Have you or one of your family members started waking up with red bumps on their skin that cannot be explained?  If so, it is time to consider that your beds may be infested with bed bugs.  These creepy critters are usually large enough to be seen with the naked eye in the crevices around your mattress, and if you find them, you need to exterminate them, and fast.  Here is how to exterminate bed bugs.

While bed bugs are most commonly found in dorms and hotels, the simple fact is that if you are exposed, you can bring them home with you.  If you have signs that they are in your home, it is time to do what you can to get rid of them.

Unfortunately, it won’t be cheap – the best step is to fully replace your mattress.  If this isn’t possible, you will need to purchase a fully sealable cover to place around it.  You can get these from any good mattress store. Sticky traps placed near your bed will capture any bed bugs that managed to escape.

One thing that you should also consider is calling an exterminator or pest control specialist, as they will be able to get rid of bed bugs without putting your health at risk from common pesticides.  Steam cleaning the room and washing your bedding, curtains, and clothes daily can also help ensure that no bed bugs linger.

If you need a safe pesticide that can be used around children and pets as well as in an area where you sleep, consider diatomaceous earth, which works by dehydrating the bugs.

When you are able to get rid of bed bugs, you can sleep safely and comfortably once again.
