How to Create a Spring Cleaning Checklist

The New Year is finally upon us, and that means it is time to start with a fresh clean slate and tackle all of the challenges that are in the future.  The best way to do this is by starting with a clean house for January.  It is easy to keep things looking great when you have a checklist that can help you keep track of your work.

Compiling a checklist is easy. Here’s how…

The first thing you should do is to take out some paper or open your word processing program and make a list of all of the rooms of the house.  Don’t forget places like the attic and the garage.  You then need to go through the rooms and determine what areas you need to clean.  Are you going to start by getting rid of all of the old junk that piled up in the spare room over the last year?  Do you want to do a deep and thorough clean of all rooms, and rent a carpet cleaner?  Now’s the time to begin.

Once you have a list of all of the rooms, as well as what you need to clean in each of them you will be able to determine where you want to start.  Only do one room at a time, and check it off the list when it is done.  This gives you smaller chunks to clean and a greater sense of accomplishment.

Don’t forget or neglect the garden!  Winter and spring is a great time to cut back your garden, to clear away overgrown grasses and pull weeds.  Plant growth is slowest at this time of the year, so any clearance work you do now will last many months before things start to grow back again.

When you start your cleaning with a checklist, you will find that spring cleaning is going to be fast and easy.  You will be able to enjoy the warmer weather without having to worry about everything you have to clean!
