How to Remove Pet Hair From Clothing and Furniture

Owning a pet can be a very rewarding experience.  You get companionship and love from this relationship, and an animal that will always be by your side.  However, it can also be frustrating, especially when you have to deal with pet hair on clothing and other fabrics.  A lint roller doesn’t always do the trick, which is why you’ll need a few more options besides resorting to the dry cleaners and paying an arm and a leg.

Use the ‘Damp Hand’ Trick

If you are out and about, this is a quick and easy way to remove fluff from your stuff.  First, you need to dampen your hand and then wipe downward repeatedly to remove the hair from your clothing.  You’ll find that the hair balls up in your hand and you can easily throw it away.  When moisture dampens the hair, it is much simpler to remove.

Use a Wet Sponge

If you need to clean hair from furniture, then you can use the same trick, but with a sponge or damp cloth.  Lightly dampen the sponge and then wipe downward and most of the hair will pull away.  For carpets, you can use a damp mop (the sponge kind, not the fiber kind) to achieve the same results.

Use a Latex Glove

If the sponge trick doesn’t get the job done entirely, you can use a latex glove instead.  Rub the glove over the fabric and the hair should stick to it.  Rubber gloves can also be used – you’re basically building up static electricity that binds the hair to the glove.

Vacuum it Away

Finally, if you prefer a more mechanized approach, you can invest in a vacuum cleaner with a pet hair attachment.  These are excellent for removing pet hair from almost anything, though it might be a bit tough to use this attachment to remove hair from clothing while you’re wearing it.

With these simple tips, you should be able to remove unwanted pet hair, and have a cleaner wardrobe and home.
