The Pros and Cons of Choosing a Prepaid Cell Phone Plan

It seems that everyone today has a cellphone.  People who are young and old alike have cell phones that can connect to the web, text, take pictures, play music, and, of course, make calls.

Some people who have credit trouble or who are not U.S. citizens (such as tourists) might find that they do not have the necessary credit to get a cell phone without putting down a large deposit.  There is a way around this problem though: you can use a prepaid phone instead.  These prepaid phones have a number of advantages as well as disadvantages.

One of the advantages of the prepaid phones is that you can control the amount that you pay.  You can choose to pay for a specified number of minutes each month, or you can choose a plan that offers unlimited connectivity.  This is similar to the plans that you will find with a traditional cell phone plan.  However, you pay the bill ahead of time.

One of the biggest problems with so many of the prepaid cell phone plans is that you don’t always have many choices when it comes to phones.  Since you don’t have as many choices, it means that you might not be able to find a phone that you want.

Another problem with some of the prepaid cell phone plans is that the carriers just don’t have great service.  You might have only limited areas around the country where you can get service for your cell phone.  As these plans grow in popularity, this might change.

Whenever you are considering a prepaid cell phone plan, make sure you compare the plans of several different companies so you can choose the best.
