4 Easy Fixes to Save Your Child’s Clothes

How much money have you wasted throwing out your kid’s clothes that you thought were ruined? Kids will be kids and they are hard on clothing, but next time they stain their shirt or rip their jeans don’t make your first stop the trash can or Salvation Army. Here are 4 easy fixes to mend those clothes.

Last year you bought a brand new jacket that your child loves, but that flimsy plastic zipper pull broke right off and now you think that jacket is history. Not anymore! Replace missing jacket pulls with your favorite key chain, this quick mend will revive outwear favorites and keep cash in your pocket.

That birthday party was a blast last weekend but now there’s pizza grease dried in to the front of your kid’s favorite shirt. Trash? Wrong again. A little bit of vinegar on that stain will keep that shirt in rotation; this stain remover trick works well on grass stains and wine or juice stains too.

Keep cool patches on hand for a quick mend for ripped jeans. That ripped out pocket is not the end of your kid’s favorite jeans anymore; iron on or sew on patches will give those jeans a one of a kind look and save them from the thrift store.

Repair and replace seams and hems with fusible tape. There are many options for mends including stitch witchery. For larger cuffs you can use fusible web for the same quality mend. Fusible web can also be used to mend small tears in a variety of fabrics for another money saving quick fix.
