How to Remove Hard Water Stains From Your Toilet

Is your toilet bowl stained with hard water?   Are you looking for the best way to get it clean and glowing white again?  Here are some simple and effective ways to remove hard water stains and soap scum from your toilet.

When you are getting ready to clean the hard water stains, start by opening your window or turning on your bathroom fan.  This will help reduce the amount of fumes you inhale from the cleaning products you use.  The use of rubber gloves is also important whenever you are cleaning your commode for hygienic reasons.

When you have everything ready, turn off the water, then flush your toilet to drain the bowl.  Now apply baking soda to the sides of the bowl as well as in the basin.  Allow the baking soda to stand for a few minutes, then use a toilet brush to start scrubbing at the stains.  Baking soda is a natural abrasive, so you will find that it makes it much easier to get out even the most stubborn hard water stains.

With your bowl cleaned, simply switch the water back on and flush the toilet to rinse.  Using white vinegar in your toilet every week or so as a cleaner can help prevent new stains from forming, and will help reduce the amount of time you spend cleaning your bowl.
