Top 5 Places to Camp With Your Family in the U.S.

Too many families are spending their vacations in big cities when there are so many wonderful places across the U.S. to camp.  Get out of your air-conditioned hotel room, and visit a few camping destinations for a change of scenery and some great fresh air!

 

Heckscher State Park (East Islip, NY)

 

Heckscher State Park in East Islip, New York features swimming, hiking, biking and playgrounds, so there is truly something for every member of your family.  They’re also pet-friendly and feature plenty of trails.

 

Petit Jean State Park (Little Rock, AR)

 

The next camp site is further south, just over an hour south of Little Rock, Arkansas.  Petit Jean State Park is a great camp destination for families because of their picnic areas and accessible hiking trails.  They also offer tennis courts for the athletic members of your family.

 

Hell’s Gate State Park (Lewiston, ID)

 

Next, we travel west to Hell’s Gate State Park in Lewiston, Idaho.  Don’t let the name fool you!  They’re a family friendly camp, and you can swim, fish, or get back to civilization in Lewiston, where great shopping and dining await you.

Although most people associate Florida with beaches, there are actually several wonderful places to camp in the state.  Fort De Soto Park in Pinellas County is just one of those places.  They boast clean and updated bathroom facilities with showers, as well as picnic tables, fishing, biking trails and even a canoeing trail.

 

Loon Lake Lodge (Reedsport, OR)

 

Our last stop is back out west in Reedsport, Oregon.  Loon Lake Lodge boasts covered bridges, boating and fishing, and elk viewing.  When your kids want to relax at night or update their social networking sites, satellite TV and free Wi-Fi are available.
