Top 5 Choices For a Memorable Family Vacation

What are the key ingredients to a great family vacation?  To me, the top priority for family vacations is how happy everyone is at the end.  However, with happiness often comes hassle and/or expense.  These are the Top 5 Family Vacation Ideas I’ve come up with based on research and experience.

Top Family Vacations #5:

Take a Cruise as a Family Vacation

If you have an adventurous family, you should take them on a cruise.  A cruise is one of the best family vacations because it offers constant entertainment (and food) as well as relaxation.  Your kids can do anything from swimming to playing basketball on most cruises.  And you can sunbathe on the deck or catch a show with your special someone.

Besides the fun you can have on the ship, cruises visit some amazing destinations.  From Alaska to Mexico, the Caribbean to Italy, you can go nearly anywhere in the world on a luxury liner. The versatility plus compatibility make cruises one of the best family vacations.

Take a Family Vacation at a Major City: New York, Los Angeles, England, Rome, etc.

Family vacations are difficult to agree on because each individual has different tastes.  But finding a good balance is easy in any major city.  One of my favorites is New York.  There are so many landmarks to visit and it’s good for your children to get a bit of education while they are enjoying themselves.  You can teach them about American history, or about any country’s history that you visit.

Besides landmarks, every city will have a trademark food from Philly Cheese Steak, to Delhi Partha’s.  You will find every type of hotel and lodging from budget to extravagant depending on your finances.  A  great way to explore any city is by checking out some local hot spots made easy by online resources.

Family Vacations Outdoors – Camping

Not everyone loves nature, but your family should go camping at least once before the children grow up.  Of all family vacations this one is probably the most budget friendly, but one of the most memorable.  You can go hiking, swimming, fishing, or just explore.  Some places let you hunt, or go horseback riding.  The options are endless.

The biggest benefit of camping is the collaborative connection you will make with each other.  Building a fire and cooking over it may seem like a hassle to you, but to your kids it will be a magical experience.  You’ll discover the power of simple things like storytelling and singing.

Enjoy your Family Vacation at a Resort.

The best family resorts, for me at least, include either the beaches or the snow.  A drawback to resorts are the cost, however besides that, it’s impossible to have a bad time at a resort.  The women in the family can relax with spas and massages, the men can be adventurous outdoors and go skiing or snorkeling, and the kids can learn something new by exploring nature.  From skiing to rock climbing to snorkeling and surfing, family vacations at resorts offer the best of all worlds.

Take your Family Vacations at Disneyland/ Disneyworld.

I hate to say it, but of all family vacations, Disneyland is the best out there.  Everyone remembers their first Disneyland experience, which is reason enough to go.  Let your children get lost in a fantasy world, and you’ll realize how happy their happiness makes you.

However, get ready for the golden mouse to burn a hole in your pocket!  The best way to experience Disneyland is to go all out.  Get the family passes and stay at a hotel for a couple of days.  You need a lot of time to explore the theme parks Disney owns, and your kids will never forget the time they met their favorite princesses and Disney characters.
