How to Make Cash With Your Gift Wrapping Skills This Christmas

Are you feeling the need for some extra money this Christmas?  The holidays can most certainly be a stressful time of year, particularly if you need extra cash.  If you have decent gift wrapping skills, however, you can turn this into a part-time job that offers the extra money that you need.

Many people feel crushed by the time crunch represented by the holidays.  One of the most time consuming, frustrating tasks for many people is wrapping their gifts.  If you have the skills to wrap gifts elegantly, then you can make a decent amount of money with very little effort.

How do you go about doing this?  One of the best ways is to simply put an ad on Craigslist.  Simply list what your services are (gift wrapping) and how much money you want per package.  You can even charge extra for very large or complicated packages. 

List the day and time-slot you’ll be available for gift-wrapping and make sure to set everyone their own appointment, to ensure nobody is waiting around for hours while you try to wrap 10 other people’s gifts!  If you do this in your own house, make sure to provide hot drinks and cookies – and a large pile of magazines – to entertain people while they wait for you.

You might also consider putting an ad in your local paper, as this can be a great source of extra money for you.  Other options include putting advertisements on local ad websites – there are usually several of these for local communities.  If you offer to visit each client’s house for free, you’ll certainly be in demand.

If you have a local craft fair in your area or a weekly farmer’s market, consider purchasing a stall near the exit, and set up a wallpaper table with your wrapping paper and bows etc.  You can ask people if they have any purchases they’d like wrapped as they leave.  

Of course, in most instances, you will need to purchase wrapping paper, bows, ribbons and other required items.  However, this can be a very minor investment that will offer you extra money in the end.
