Are Plasma or LCD Flat Screen TVs Better?

When you are at your local electronics store considering the purchase of a new flat screen TV, comparison shopping is a must.  Not only must you decide what size and brand of television you are looking for, but the type you choose has its own pros and cons as well.

Today, we will examine the difference between plasma and LCD flat screen TVs so that you can better decide which one is right for you.

Well, it depends on what you are looking for.  Both offer a variety of size options, and both offer high definition display.  Here is where the two flat screen TVs differ.  Plasma televisions offer slightly better contrast and color and are considerably superior when viewed from an angle.  LCD televisions can be hard to view clearly from an angle, but offer considerably superior energy efficiency, meaning that they’re cheaper to run, and don’t get so hot when left on for hours at a time.

At the end of the day, both types of flat screen televisions are very similar in terms of price.  LCD flat screen televisions are thinner and use less power, while plasma televisions offer a better picture and better peripheral viewing.  Take the time you need to consider these pros and cons and you can easily find the right television for your own personal needs.
