The Age Old Debate: Which is Better Mac or PC?

If you are considering buying a new computer, there are many choices to make.  Before you start comparing models and specs at your local electronics store, you need to make one major decision:  Mac or PC?  Each offers an array of benefits, as well as potential drawbacks, and this makes it hard to know which one is right for you and your budget.

If you are thinking of buying a basic, affordable computer, a PC is likely your best bet.  There are some pretty good quality computers out there for around $200-$300, and virtually all of these are PCs.  The PC has the bargain computer market cornered, and for better or worse, Mac is focused on only putting out high-end, top quality machines that are simply out of the price range for many computer users.  This leaves PC as the only option many people on a lower budget have for buying a computer.

With that said, it is important to note that the machines at the Apple store are not overpriced by any stretch.  They are incredibly well-built, extremely powerful and come with useful software instead of the bloatware that fills most PCs.  A Mac is a great option when you consider that they can now function fully with the Windows operating system.  Macs are ready to edit photos and videos right out of the box and include more features if you are a media guru or a budding video editor.

Macs are also much less prone to getting spyware and viruses.  A big thing to consider if you are planning on storing treasure family photos or important documents on your computer!

Buying a computer will come down largely to budget and preferences.  If you are a hardcore Windows fan, you may stick with a PC simply out of familiarity, but if you are looking for something new and frequently edit photos, designs and videos, a Mac might be the better option.
