What Color Paint Works Best in a Baby Nursery Room?

When you are preparing a nursery for your new baby, you want everything to be perfect.  From the safest baby crib or bassinet to the most comfortable toys and bedding, most parents put a great deal of thought and effort into getting everything just right.

One of the details of the nursery that gets the most attention is the paint color.  So how do you choose the right paint color for your nursery?  Here are some tips to help you choose the right color for your baby’s nursery.

One thing that you can take into consideration is the baby’s gender.  While this may seem like a stereotype, many parents choose to associate pinks with girls and blues with boys.  Of course, if you want a gender neutral room or if you do not yet know the sex of the baby, there are still plenty of options.

The biggest consideration when choosing paint for your nursery is going to be the feel of the room.  Bright, loud colors will keep your baby awake and can be overstimulating.  Sticking to soft, muted pastels and earthy tones can help promote a feeling of calm that will help your baby sleep better and that will not create too much visual disturbance.  Pastel blues, purples, and yellows are great, as well as pinks and even greens.

Patterns can also be lovely in a nursery, and you will find that teddy bears, colored shapes, and farm animal transfers on the skirting boards can look great and give your baby extra visual stimulation to look at.  As long as you choose colors that are not too loud or busy, you will find that your nursery will come out just right for your baby.
