Review: the NuWave Pro Infrared Oven. Hit or Miss?

There are many new cooking devices on the market today that promise healthier cooking and better food quality, as well as less time spent cooking.  The NuWave Pro infrared oven is one of these devices.  However, before you rush out and purchase the NuWave, it might be helpful to know what other consumers think about it.

First, most consumers who have purchased the NuWave oven have had good experiences with many different types of food.  For instance, the NuWave actually can cook frozen chicken breasts in just 30 minutes, and leave them nice and juicy.  However, some consumers have been a bit disappointed when cooking other food items.

For instance, the NuWave is quite capable of cooking steaks, but it does not give the meat the same flavor that you will find with a regular grill.  It does not char-grill meat.  Second, some baked dishes do not do so well in the NuWave.  For instance, pies are not always cooked all the way through.

A few consumers have reported that the plastic casing on their NuWave ovens has cracked or broken, though these are far fewer in number than those basically satisfied with the operation of the device.

One area of concern for most consumers interested in buying the NuWave oven is the actual purchase process.  It seems that in order to avoid paying extra fees and not having to pay for shipping (it is NOT free), it is best to buy the oven at an electronics store, rather than directly from the company.
