Give Her Non Traditional Flowers for Valentine’s Day

Although Valentine’s Day is not a national holiday, it does seem to get a lot of attention. After all, it is considered to be the most romantic day of the year. This means that gifts are also supposed to fall under that “romantic” heading, which is the reason that flowers are among the most popular items given to people on that day.

This year, however, why not break with tradition and give that someone special more exotic and unusual flowers than the classic long-stemmed roses.

So what kinds of alternative flowers would be suitable for Valentine’s Day? Have you thought about orchids? They are far more delicate and extremely beautiful, and have a much longer lifespan than a single cut rose. You could stay with the roses, and give hybrids instead of odorless hot house varieties, too.

Alternative flowers can also include such creative offerings as live houseplants and even dwarf fruit trees that would produce all kinds of interesting things. Some people would also love to get a gift made from pressed flowers instead of cut ones.

Don’t forget that mothers love to be remembered on Valentine’s Day too, as well as a few months later on Mother’s Day. Why not hit the florist and spoil your mother this year by sending her flowers for both events? You could send her a bunch of fragrant roses for Valentine’s Day, and then a gift of hand pressed rose petals on Mother’s Day. After all, nothing is too special for Mom!
