3 Ways to Better Thanksgiving Chestnut Stuffing

Chestnut stuffing is one of the most traditional Thanksgiving dishes, whether you choose to serve your recipe in a dish or within the turkey, itself.  However, there comes a time when even traditional favorites need a bit of something extra.  Here are three easy ways that you can change up your Thanksgiving stuffing recipe, while still using a box mix.  All you have to do is add a few extra ingredients.  Here are a few popular options you might want to try.

A time-honored choice, particularly with Thanksgiving chestnut stuffing, is to add apple to the mix.  You can do this quite easily with fresh apple.  You’ll want to use green apples – peeled, cored and sliced very small.  Simply add these to the box mix and cook as you normally would.  The sweet and savory taste that results will be a big hit at your Thanksgiving meal!

Another delicious way to change the taste of your Thanksgiving stuffing is to use leeks and apples together.  Follow the steps to add apples to your Thanksgiving stuffing, and then put cooked leeks at the bottom of your stuffing pan during the baking process.

Finally, you can add a bit of zest to your Thanksgiving stuffing recipe by adding sausage to the mixture.  Before you begin preparing the box recipe, take the time to slice and fry up your sausage.  Once cooked, remove it from the heat and allow it to cool, then crumble the sausage into your Thanksgiving stuffing and prepare as usual.

Each of these easy recipe options will help make sure that your Thanksgiving table is as tasty as it is tasteful.
